If you decided to play as a Warden, congrats! You have picked one of my favorites of the game. This is because you harness the power of wildlife, which is awesome! Then you decided to be a Tank. The life of the Tank is a tough one. You take all the damage and reap none of the glory of a DPS.
In this article, we will look at just one single build. Check our other articles for other build types!

I. Preferred Races to use for this build
o Imperial
o Nord
o Argonian
Imperial is one of the best classes in the game overall. This class can be in any alliance without the Any Race, Any Alliance coupon. They also receive great base health and stamina as well as shield proficiency.
Nords tanks in their own minds. They start with great health and resistance bonuses.
Argonians have great base health and magicka. Making them great options for this build as well.
Other races can certainly excel as well, but these are the first tier I would recommend.
Weapons
I went back and forth trying to decide which weapons are the best for this build. Mostly, which destruction staff was best for the alternate. Either is really viable, but for this build – I am recommending Frost Staff here. The main hand will be best done with sword or dagger. Your job is to soak damage, so quick chops are your friend.
Main Hand – Sword
Alternate Hand – Shield
Back Up Main Hand – Destruction Frost Staff
Abilities
Main & Alternate
Main | Polar Wind | Shimmering Shield | Subterranean Assault | Pierce Armor | Spell Symmetry | Enchanted Forest |
Alternate | Leeching Vines | Bull Netch | Ice Fortress | Inner Rage | Elemental Blockade | Enchanted Forest |
Skill Explanation – Bull netch may be one of the most important. Mainly because you should have everything attacking you for the most part. They will hit you with all kinds of negative effects. Well, bull netch removes a negative effect every 5 seconds. Plenty of heals and buffs to go around as well here.
Passives
Animal Companion: Bond with Nature, Savage Beast, Flourish, Advanced Species
Green Balance: Accelerated Growth, Nature’s Gift, Emerald Moss, Maturation
Winter’s Embrace: Glacial Presence, Frozen Armor, Icy Aura, Piercing Cold
One Hand and Shield: Fortress, Sword and Board, Deadly Bash, Deflect Bolts, Battlefield Mobility
Destruction Staff: Tri Focus, Penetrating Magic, Elemental Force, Ancient Knowledge, Destruction Expert
Heavy Armor: Resolve, Constitution, Juggernaut, Revitalize, Rapid Mending
Which brings me to armor. Gear
