I have recently began looking at games on the PlayStation Network that I previously overlooked. I am particularly talking about free games. Many times I assume they are no good. Several free games have become wildly popular over the last few years. Fortnite, Apex: Legends, and others have made plenty of money through in-game purchases rather than charging for the game upfront. With that in mind, World of Warships: Legends, is another free game which makes money mostly through in-game purchases. New ships, new maps, characters, in-game currency, and more are available with real money.
This free-to-play, multiplayer, naval warfare game offers a variety of ships from many of the world’s premiere naval powers. Destroyers, Battleships, Cruisers, and Aircraft Carriers can be deployed to take on enemy ships in a variety of game modes and maps. Graphically, these ships are such beauties that one can ignore the less desirable quality of land scenery. It makes sense why resources were directed more toward the water and ships, but to anyone who pays attention will notice the issues on the islands.
I originally thought these battles would be anticlimactic, but I found myself immersed rather quickly. Battles can get quite intense. You have to watch where you’re going, try not to die, while trying to fight back at the same time. Decisiveness, precision, and attentiveness are all skills that will be put to the test in this wonderfully developed game by Lesta Studio. This game was also published by Wargaming Group Limited, and was released to PlayStation and Xbox 1 in 2019 -just to finish the technical information.
Features that caught my eye:
- Beautiful design of the ships.
- When shooting into greater distances you actually have to lead the ships, provide room for arc, and watch where you’re going. It adds difficulty and display of skill.
- Spectator cameras allow for some great viewing even after your ship is destroyed. Makes the game worth playing even if not playing.
- One more thing:
The one more thing is the option to purchase items with real money. Wild right? Who wants to spend money on a real game? Well I would.
Yep, that’s right. Whenever I really enjoy a game, I like to purchase things to show off just how much I like the game versus other players I see in the online world. Like, “look at me, I play this game so much I have an expensive ship”. That’s not the real reason of course. No, the real reason is when I enjoy a game, especially a free one, I like to show my support -as well as check out some other available items.
You can play this game for free or check out some of the items available in the paid market. Many items that cost real money are add-ons to the game and must be bought from the PlayStation store.
I highly recommend this game. Look into it if you liked what you watched or read above. By now, you probably know if this game is for you. It is available for free in the PlayStation store, and I am a PS4 user. So if you play, hit me up!
